A man was shot dead during a fight in Itumbiara, located in the south of the state. An off-duty military policeman is suspected of the crime. A video circulating on social media shows the moment the victim was shot while the suspect was beating him.

The case happened on Tuesday night (12), in a bar in the Vila Vitória sector. In the video it is possible to see that the shot was fired while the two were physically assaulting each other.

The case is being investigated by the Civil Police. g1 was told by the Military Police that the suspected military policeman, whose identity has not been released, was off duty.

In addition, the corporation said that the military officer justified that he had noticed "a motorcyclist performing dangerous maneuvers" and that he ended up fighting with him for this reason, "resulting in an accidental shooting of a firearm by the MP".

"Regarding the request for a note on an occurrence recorded yesterday (12) in the city of Itumbiara - GO, the Military Police of Goiás informs: Military police moved to the scene of the incident where they found a military police officer in his off-duty hours. He said that when he noticed a motorcyclist making dangerous maneuvers, he became involved in an altercation with the driver, resulting in the officer accidentally firing a firearm.

In view of the facts, the officer was taken to the Civil Police Station and then to the Military Police Internal Affairs Department in Goiânia. The Corporation opened an Administrative Disciplinary Procedure and ordered the removal of the officer from his duties. The Goiás Military Police reaffirms its commitment to compliance with the law and reiterates that it does not condone any misconduct by its members."
