March 30, 2024: Ana Victoria Ávila , a talented 28-year-old Argentine photographer, better known as "Nani", had decided to move to Mexico in December of last year to continue her career in that country.



With a unique style and a sensitive gaze, she documented the beauty of the world through her lens, capturing everything from weddings to social mobilizations such as Memorial Day and the "Ni una Menos" marches or the campaign for legal abortion.



On Wednesday, March 28, Ávila was reported missing while in Playa del Carmen. The concern of her loved ones grew when they did not receive the usual daily call from her. After several days of searching, fishermen spotted her body floating in the Caribbean Sea, near a lodging center on the coast of Puerto Morelos.



The news of her death hit the artistic community hard in deep sorrow. Friends and colleagues of hers expressed their condolences on social media, remembering her passion for photography and her nomadic spirit that led her to travel to different corners of the world.



Ávila's body was found without clothes , and one of the elements that helped in his identification was a tattoo on the left side of his back .



The investigation into the circumstances of his death is being carried out by the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo, which has not yet ruled out any hypothesis . Although the incident was initially reported as a "drowning report," other possibilities are being considered .
