A pillion rider died while a motorcyclist was seriously injured after hitting the side of a lorry on Jalan Tuaran near the Amminudin Baki Mosque here, this afternoon.
The victim, Adshar Sabree, 19, hails from Kampung Likas and was confirmed dead immediately at the scene in the incident at 12 noon.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majanji said the incident involved a motorcycle ridden by the victim and a lorry driven by a 25-year-old man.
"The initial incident happened when the truck driver was on his way to Manggatal from Tuaran by using the lane on the left.
"When arriving at the location, the motorcycle the victim was riding hit the right side of the lorry before the victim was thrown to the side lane and run over by an express bus," he said.
According to him the impact of the incident caused the victim to die immediately at the location.
