Manoel de Souza Barbosa, 60, was killed after being run over by a truck on Highway BR-101, in the rural area of Sooretama, this Thursday (13). The accident happened at kilometer 125, after the driver of a Fiat Uno, who was parked on the side of the road, opened the door and hit Manoel, who was riding a motorcycle. He lost control of the steering wheel and fell, at which point he was run over.

Manoel died at the scene. Shortly after the accident, which happened around 1 pm, the driver of the Fiat Uno reversed the car and fled without providing assistance. There is no information about the identity of the person driving the vehicle.

The Civil Police report that the driver of the car may be investigated for possible negligence, recklessness or incompetence, and may even be charged with manslaughter, when there is no intention to kill.

In a statement, the Espírito Santo Scientific Police (PCIES) reported that the expert was called and that the victim's body was sent to the Regional Section of Legal Medicine (SML) in Linhares for an autopsy and later released to the family. The case will be investigated by the Sooretama Police Department.
