The fatal accident occurred of Wednesday 13th, near Fazenda Entre Rios, Maranhão.

The victims, a male riding a motorbike with a female passenger, collided at speed into ta trailer on the BR-316, leaving both dead on impact. The female named as Naiane Oliveira Ribeiro, aged twenty nine years old suffered multiple broken bones and facial injuries. The male riders body was mangled and torn apart, leaving blood, flesh, innards and limbs scattered and strewn on the road. His name has not been released.

Witnesses stated the victims had tried to overtake the trailer but failed, careening into the path of a trailer coming in the opposite direction. Several tried to help the female, but like the male, she was already dead.

Both the highway and civil police were called to the scene, the bodies examined and witness statements taken. The victims families were notified of there deaths, and the bodies will be released to them after a full autopsy has been performed. Both the trailer and truck driver were treated for shock.
